Application tracker
Build your college list on Appybara and the tracker lays your deadlines out as a timeline, with essays and requirements next to each date.
The two big clusters are November 1 (most Early Decision and Early Action rounds) and January 1 (most Regular Decision rounds at selective schools). Public universities often use December 1 or later, and hundreds of colleges accept applications on a rolling basis into the spring.
Early Decision (ED) is binding: if admitted, you commit to attend. Early Action (EA) is early but not binding. Restrictive Early Action (REA) is non-binding but limits where else you can apply early. Regular Decision (RD) is the standard round with no restrictions. ED II is a second binding round with a January deadline.
Rolling-admission schools review applications as they arrive and admit until the class fills. The date shown for a rolling school is when the window closes, not a due date. Applying early in the cycle still helps, since seats, housing and scholarships go first.
These dates come from the Common App's own listings for the Fall 2027 entry term and cover Common App member colleges. A few colleges use different dates for direct applications or specific programs (nursing, honors colleges, arts portfolios), so always confirm on the school's admissions page before relying on a date.
Work backward from your earliest deadline. Essays take longer than most applicants expect, and teacher recommendations need lead time. Starting main essays in the summer before senior year and supplements by early fall keeps a November 1 deadline comfortable.
